What is a piece?

A piece is a longer and usually more researched article, where I explore an idea more in depth.

This still does not necessarily mean that I agree or believe in these thoughts. It just means I find them interesting. Even if I generally subscribe to these ideas (at the time), that does not mean they are set in stone and not subject to change.

However well researched at the time, if I will encounter new or better arguments for or against ideas I previously subscribed to, I will change my mind at times.

Thoughts and ideas evolve very organically and grow in different directions, so if you want to intellectually evolve, you have to be open to change!

That being said, the better the initial argument the less likely it is to change significantly. Many ideas of great ancient thinkers like Plato or Aristotle withstood the test of time and turned out to be incredibly robust. In fact it could be argued that these arguments became even stronger with time.

So, please always keep in mind when I wrote a piece. Month or years later the thoughts of mine might have changed.

Let’s hope they will have grown and aren’t
harbingers of my incipient mental decay…

What is a bit?

Bits are shorter “bite-sized” articles and can be compared to tweets. In fact, they might be just an embedded tweet.

Usually they should also be taken less “seriously” since they are less researched. They should be viewed as just a an interesting thought that flew past my mind, which might get discarded on deeper contemplation.

So this was a bit.
